Fire
Factory II - Late Aug / Early Sept 08 - Get ready!
Fire Factory -
Saturday 28th May 2005
Thanks to all those
that competed, Benson (our Psyscope DJ) and to our sponsors - Shepherd
Neame Masters Brewers and Onfire clothing.
This was the first
of our competitive spin jams, to spice it up we added prize money,
an Onfire T-shirt and small cup! This was a visual extravaganza
- held at The Three Mariners, Faversham, Kent and was backed by
the beer brewing giants
Shepherd Neame
and Onfire clothing. We had an awesome DJ, BBQ, great
band and fantastic performances from everyone who competed.
This was a great evening.
The competition
categories & rules were:
Two fire sections
and glow:
Solo Swinging:
As a solo
section, this could only be entered by an individual performer and
the following toys could be used: Poi, Ropes, Swords, Clubs... If
it swung, it was good to go! Each performer was given 2 x
4 minute burns.
Won by Durbs - Burnt
Toast!
Sole Staff:
This was for all the rotary heads out there, whether it was
one staff or two with 2 x 4 minute burns.
Won by Strugz - Soton
Fire Spinning!
Glow:
This was a non-fire section. Anything that glowed, could go!
An open section for solo performers or teams, using any illuminating
props for up to 6 minutes each.
Won by Durbs - Burnt
Toast!
Each competition was
judged primarily on entertainment factor by three independent judges.
Cost and Prize Money:
This competition
was FREE to enter thanks to Shepherd Neame Master Brewers donating
the prize money.
Insurance:
Unfortunately,
it was not possible for the event as a whole to be insured. As such,
each performer entering a fire only section had to have their
own Public Liability Insurance. (As my mum says: "If you play with
fire and you get burnt, its your own fault"!!!).
Location:
This was held
at The Three Mariners, 2 Church Road, Oare, Faversham, Kent, ME13
0QA, Telephone: 01795-533633.

Fire Vision had already performed twice at The Three Mariners and
provided them with their two busiest nights. As a result they
offered to host this competition. Fire Factory took place
in their large garden, spectators able to watch from decking and
grass verge.
Fire Factory II:
We hope to
organise another competition later this year or next, see keep your
eye out for updates!
