Psyscope hope to build a collection of reviews of the clubs they have been
to from a clubbers and spinners point of view.
Ambivalence
Jacks,
London
Just when we thought
the years of tech trance had vanished, Ambivalent Records in
association with Elluminate throw a party that gives us hope,
that proper trance music is back. It reminded us of when we
used to go to the Enlightenment parties, when
Atomic Records were producing some of the best
sounds and evenings.
The good thing about the location of this party, was that it was
near Crucifix Lane tube station. The security seemed friendly
and the cost of entrance (12 pounds), was excellent value for money.
The main room was spacious, with adequate seating and the bar was
reasonably priced. The club did lack a little decor. The main
stage was well lit with an impressive large visual screen, other
then that, there was not much else to look at. The sound system
was a bit quiet at times, but it was nice to be able to hear your
mates talk to you.
Carrie Star played early in the evening and we were impressed
with how much she had improved since the Elluminate Music
& Ambivalent Records launch party. The main reason for
going to this party though, was to see RAM, something we
had been waiting for, for so long. "Was it worth the wait?"
I hear you say. Absolutely, they blew us away with an awe inspiring
live set. In our opinion, there is nothing better in the world
than the sound of phat, crunchy, tech trance. Respect to
Ady Conner who played three live sets that night (Scorb,
RAM, Squid Inc.) and is producing some of the finest tunes around.
Squid Inc. (one half of Deviant Species, the other
Scorb) were also amazing, dark searing sound-scapes over
phat rolling bass lines. We didn't know much about these guys before
the party, but will definitely be on the look out for them in the
future.

The Music
Box, Manchester
This was our second
time to a Sunrise party at the Music Box in Manchester. Although a bit of
a small venue it has a large atmosphere, as any club we've been
to.
The drinks were
reasonably priced, the decor was good, the staff were friendly and
with well hide security, its easy to see why clubbers come here
to gather.
With some
really banging DJs relentless to keep you on the dance floor and
just enough room to spin in, this is a must go to night out.
Bit of a shame its 270+ miles from us or we'd go more often!
